BOARD MEMBERS

  • Judy Lane, Founder and President

From the first time Judy visited Tanzania, she was hooked. Getting to know and love the Maasai people, their ways and their outlook on life while learning about the many difficulties they face, she wanted to find a way to help.

  • Caren Caljouw

Ms. Caljouw shares our founder’s passion for wildlife and for preserving natural environments and local cultures. She has vast experience in land stewardship, conservation planning, and working with volunteers.

  • Caroline Wheeler

Caroline is the founder and director of Sisters for Peace, a grassroots, nonprofit organization based in Western Massachusetts.

  • Felicia Smith, Executive Director

Felicia served in the Peace Corps in Zambia and continues her support of African people through Maasai Partners

  • Lloyd Williams, Secretary

Mr. Williams provides phenomenal insight to our board of directors. He graduated with a BA in religion from Kalamazoo and received a MS in social work from Boston College.

  • Mimi Stephens, Treasurer

A geography lover since day one, Mimi solidified her interest in the subject in Kenya during an undergraduate semester with the National Outdoor Leadership School.

VOLUNTEERS

  • Wayne Rhodes, Technical Operations

Wayne plays a major role in developing and maintaining the Maasai Partners website. He also provides support for other technical aspects of the organization.

When not working on computer systems (for Maasai Partners and other not-for-profits), he teaches English As A Secondary Language to adults (through Oakton College in Skokie, IL).

In his free time he makes quilts and other art from fabrics.

Working together as a team makes all the difference in our ability to meet the profound challenges of helping the people to reach out for a better life in this remote region.

We collaborate extensively with our community members and partners, accessing the talent and experience of all. Thank you to our board, partners, volunteers and supporters who make this work possible.
