Felicia Smith, Executive Director

Felicia has been on Maasai Partners’ Board of Directors since 2017, shortly after finishing her Peace Corps service in Zambia. She was eager to continue working in the East African region after returning home, so when founder Judy Lane invited her to sit on the Board, she was happy to accept. Years later, in 2023, she accepted an invitation to work more closely with Maasai Partners as the Social Media & Scholarship Program Coordinator. In January of 2024, while accompanying Judy to Tanzania to see the program for herself, she immediately fell in love with Maasai culture and the kind-hearted people who inhabit this beautiful country. Felicia feels blessed to be able to continue working in Africa, learning from the Maasai and working with them through Maasai Partners, and sincerely thanks Judy for the opportunity to do so!

Despite the recent transition to working in Tanzania, Zambia still holds a special place in her heart, and she continues to visit her host family and friends there when opportunity allows. From 2015-2017 she volunteered under the Community Health Improvement Project, due to her college background earning her a BS in Holistic Health at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After graduating from UMass in 2014, while awaiting acceptance by the Peace Corps, Felicia started working on an organic vegetable farm in Montague, MA. She quickly saw the value in growing food, enjoyed the work, and subsequently found work at many other farms after returning home from her 27 months in Zambia. She continues her love of growing food at her partner’s small farm in central Massachusetts, where she works remotely for Maasai Partners, serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors, and volunteers with the East Quabbin Land Trust.
